Celebrate the gifts of 2018 and welcome 2019 with a sense of adventure and positive attention!
Chiang Mai & Pai / December 29, 2018 - January 6, 2019
Join Beccah Bartlett on a special New Year retreat filled with yoga, exploration and volunteering in the northern Thai town of Chiang Mai and beyond. This retreat will offer the opportunity not only to experience and enjoy a new culture, but also to give back in a big way through seva, or selfless service. In addition to staying and volunteering in a hill tribe village outside Chiang Mai, we'll also travel up to the beautiful mountain town of Pai for some hiking, hot springs and unwinding further in nature.
Throughout the retreat you will also have the opportunity to attend daily yoga classes, guided journaling and meditation sessions, adventure excursions, personal pampering at more.
As one of Yogamour's Co-Founders, Beccah Bartlett has been living in leading retreats in Thailand for more than 5 years working closely with the hill tribe community Yogamour Global supports outside of Chiang Mai. Learn more about Beccah here.
During our time in Chiang Mai we will be working with children of a rural Akha hill tribe who have limited rights and access to basic necessities to provide free vision care through our "Yogamour Sees Seva Project". Most of these children have never seen an optometrist before and we need YOUR help to organize the clinic. We will bring a doctor to manage the clinic and also work with you to create ways to incorporate your own unique skills and interests in interacting with the children. We have previously held dance classes, planted edible gardens, led therapeutic art projects, and more - the possibilities are endless and your help is greatly appreciated!
As a child wrote to one of our previous volunteers, "We know that you could go anywhere or help anyone, but you chose here and you chose me and now we will always be friends."
YOU are the change they've been waiting for!
Chiang Mai | December 29, 2018 - January 6, 2019
While in Chiang Mai, we will stay at the lovely Sugar Cane hotel within walking distance of the charming Old City. It has a lovely pool, award winning restaurant and a beautiful view of surrounding temples. When in town, the group will explore golden temples, enjoy fabulous food, visit night markets, experience an authentic Thai massage, cooking classes, trekking and more.
During our volunteering time we will stay at Sugar Cane's sister property in the village of Chiang Dao, The Nest, which is a much shorter communte to our little mountain school and community. Please note that we will be riding local transportation in a "song tao", in the back of a covered red pickup truck, so we can connect more with the community and have an authentic experience.
We'll celebrate the New Year with a gourmet Thai-style feast as well as a very special ceremony acknowledging the gifts of 2018 and welcoming the blessings of 2019.
